Jennifer Speer at Bat

Emily Rodgers pitched her finest game on Tuesday night.  She held the Sanger Indians to one run on three hits.  Emily threw 87 pitches and only 21 balls.  She struck out five batters and only allowed one unearned run.  The game was fast paced with both pitchers throwing lots of strikes and giving up few hits.  The Eagles scored first in the second inning when Jennifer Speer collected her first of two hits.  Her first single went under the mitt of the left fielder to the fence.  Jennifer scored on the three base error giving Argyle the lead 1-0.  In the third inning Petrick tripled to right center and Erin Leamon knocked Taylor in with the ultimate game winner to increase the lead 2-0.  The Sanger pitcher allowed only four other hits in the game one each by Laura Carr (double), Erin Leamon, Chandler Hamilton and Kayla Massey.  The defense were great when it needed to be and in the last inning the Eagles showed a lot of fortitude.

Leading the game 2-0 in the last inning Emily Rodgers walked a batter with one out and after an two errors Sanger had runners on second and third with one out and the score 2-1.  As Todd Rodgers always says, "it takes fire to make steel", Emily Rodgers struck out the next batter then got the next to ground out to her for the final out of the inning and preserving a 2-1 victory.

The Lady Eagles are continuing their march to the playoffs.  They will play Gainesville in Gainesville on Friday.  Weather permitting the game will have an early start at 4:30 p.m.

(Last bit of housekeeping:  If you are not a member of the Argyle Atheletic Booster Club, please join.  The booster club supports all sports including SOFTBALL.  If you have a senior and you wish to have her apply for a $ 1,000.00 scholarship this year (three will be awarded) you must be a member.  The membership is for one year and should be renewed each year.)
