The Lady Eagles broke the .500 barrier by defeating Whitesboro 3 to 2 on Tuesday, March 25. Emily Rodgers earned the win by throwing 67 strikes and 29 balls. She struck out 6 batters and walked three. She allowed 4 hits in 7 innings pitched and gave up two earned runs.
The Lady Eagles tied the score in the bottom of the first scoring a run by Kristen Armstrong. Whitesboro scored again in the second inning and Argyle tied it in their half of the inning as Brittany O'Brien scored. The game remained tied at two runs apiece until the bottom of the seventh inning. The heroics were led by a lead off double over the head of the left fielder by Kayla Massey. She was driven in by Taylor Petrick who had two hits in the game and drove in two runs. The offense included hits from Kristen Armstrong, Laura Carr and Erin Leamon. Kristen had two stolen bases and Brittany had another. The defense held together only committing two errors. The defensive play of the game was made in right field with the game tied late in the game and runners on base, Katie McKinney snagged a line drive on the run across her body keeping the game tied.
The Lady Eagles continue their march to the playoffs with a record of 4-3. After three tough last inning losses this year it was the Lady Eagles turn to win one in the last inning.
