The fans braved the cold last night and watched a great game in Bridgeport. During both the Freshman and the JV game we were treated to some interesting pronunciations of last names. There announcer was great, even signaling a touchdown up in the press box when he finally pronounced Jake Sizelove’s name correctly.
The JV remain unbeaten in District play. Eagle JV 22 Bridgeport JV 0. The defense played very tough again this week, allowing less than 100 yards of offense from Bridgeport. Joe Durham led the Eagles with 5 solo tackles, including a big hit that caused fumble in the first half, and the hit that insured the shut out, late in the fourth quarter. Taylor Dierke, Jake Meeks, Jake Sizelove, and Blake Dunham all had 4 solo tackles. Mitchell Dunson, Alejandro Castro, Ethan Clark each had three solo tackles. Every defensive player contributed to the victory with tackles, QB pressure, or pass coverage. It was a great defensive effort.
On the offensive side of the ball, Patrick Vickery had a solid outing, completing 16 of 33 passes one TD and one two point conversion. The receivers had their hands full with some very aggressive defensive backs. Lance Sutton led all receivers with 6 catches for 122 yards, one TD and one two point conversion. Kevin Ryon had 3 great catches for 90 yards. Justin Bruton had 2 for 50 yards and one TD. Taylor Brasher had a 30 yard catch that set up the first score. Michael Willeford had a solid night on the ground with 7 carries for 59 yards.
It was a great game from both Offense and Defense. These guys are really playing some good football. We have one home game left this season, if you know someone who has not seen these young men play, encourage them to come out next week and see us take on Decatur. This game will not disappoint any fan.
