Argyle JV vs. Whitewright

10/05/07

By cd

The young men on JV faced Whitewright, and came up with a huge win. Argyle 51 – Whitewright 0. The JV put up 352 yards of total offense. On the other side of the ball, the hard nosed defense kept the Whitewright offense in check the entire game. It was a great victory for this team after a tough loss to Wakeland.

Chad Hedlund threw 9 for 21, for 179 yds, with two TD passes and one Int. Murphy Ellis was the leading receiver with 97 yds and one TD, Lance Sutton added 16 yds, and Justin Bruton added 42 yds and a TD. Blake Dunham had 15 yds and Michael Willeford also logged a 3 yd catch. Michael Willeford had a 104 yards rushing. Scotty Seiber put up 58 and Murphy Ellis added another 24 yards to his total. That brought the team total to an impressive 352. The offense looked smooth all night.

The Defense played an inspired game. Almost every tackle was for lost yardage. The Defense logged its first safety and it’s first TD in the game vs Whitewright. Dran Crenshaw had the sack for the safety. Eric Terrazas recovered a fumble in the endzone for the TD. Joe Durham led the unit with 5 tackles, while Eric Terrazas and Alejandro Castro each had 4. The entire defensive unit played extremely tough allowing only a hand full a positive yardage plays by Whitewright.

The young men will face Boyd next, and are looking forward to October when District play starts.
