WOW! The 2008 Eagles captured its first district baseball title with a convincing 13-6 win over the Bearcats. Argyle was undefeated in the second half of district play and extended their winning streak to nine with a record of 12-2 (18-7).
Every Eagle that batted had at least one base rap in the 18 hit barrage. Going in batting order, Lance Sutton was 2-5 with an RBI and a score. Scotty Stewart was 2-4, blasting a solo HR and a double, while working a walk and recording 3 RBIs and scoring once. Jake Sizelove was 2-3 with a double and two walks and scored once. Pat Dawkins was 2-5 scoring once and Trevor Cantrell was 2-4 with a walk and two scores. Eddie Eckert was the biggest "gun", jacking two over the fence and finishing 3-4 with six (6) RBIs, a walk, and two scores. Mike Stein and Storm Griffin were 1-5 and 2-4, respectively, and each scored once. Layton Lowry hit his first career HR en route to a 2-3 night notching a walk, three RBIs, and three scores.
The Eagles never trailed as Storm Griffin pitched a masterful complete game, spreading nine hits over seven innings. He recorded four strikeouts and only walked four (two were hit batsmen). He basically pitched his heart out to secure the win! The defense played well behind him, only committing one error.
Congratulations 2008 Eagle Baseball....District 8-3A CO-CHAMPIONS!
We now get to PLAY IN MAY!
