Blog: Eagles soccer on verge of history

For the first two seasons of varsity competition for the Argyle Eagles, things went as one might expect they would. After all, Argyle, a small-ish 3A school, competes in a 4A district because the UIL doesn't have 3A soccer. In their first two seasons of varsity competition, when head coach Marc Koke was both the boys and the girls coach, the boys went 2-8 in district play in each of the two seasons.

Argyle boys win playoff debut

Argyle annihilated Mineral Wells 4-0 on Thursday night in the Class 4A Region I bi-district round of the boys soccer playoffs. It was Argyle’s first playoff win in school history.

Dream season ends for Argyle

WICHITA FALLS -- For a moment, as Chad Hedlund lined up for a game-deciding penalty kick with just over two minutes to go in Friday’s Class 4A Region I semifinal, it looked like the magic that had carried Argyle through its historic season was back. A perfect 5-for-5 on penalty kicks this year, Hedlund had been nothing short of flawless. As one of the top-rated kickers in the state during football season, he had been nothing short of clutch.

Argyle rolls past Diamond Hill-Jarvis

SOUTHLAKE — After falling behind 1-0, Argyle stormed back with four goals to beat Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis 4-1 on Tuesday in the Class 4A Region I quarterfinals. Fernando Licona and Chad Hedlund led the way with two goals each as the Eagles used the same formula as they did in their previous game, when they beat Aledo 4-1 in the sectional round.

Eagles Soccer has historic playoff run

The Argyle Eagles boys soccer team's advanced to the Regional semi-finals making playoff history with each win. The program, only in it's third year, is competing at the 4A level in Region I.

The Eagles made it look easy dominating their first three opponents. In their first every playoff game, the Eagles defeated Mineral Wells in their playoff debut 4-0 . The Eagles then destroyed Wichita Falls Hirschi 4-0. In the third round the Eagles actually trailed 1-0 before coming back to hammer Aledo 4-1 in the Region I sectional round. The Eagles defeated FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis 4-1 in the Regional Quarterfinals at Dragon Stadium in Southlake.

The Eagles season ended with a 1-0 loss to El Paso Riverside in Wichita Falls.

An incredible season for the Argyle Eagles Boys Soccer team.
