THE COLONY — Argyle senior Kimmy Phillips placed fifth in the girls 200-yard freestyle in a school record time of 1:53.86 at the recent TISCA North Zone Invitational meet at the LISD Aquatic Center.
Phillips also placed eighth in the 500 freestyle, setting a school record of 5:07.89. Teammate Anna Reuter finished 21st in the 100 breaststroke and 36th in the 100 butterfly.
The meet featured 71 of the top teams in the region, all in the 5A and 4A classifications. The two Argyle swimmers were the only athletes from a 3A school in attendance.
Argyle juniors Anna Reuter (on left in photo) and Kimmy Phillips (right) completed another outstanding year for Argyle Swimming. They were each selected to the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association 4A All State team in multiple events. Anna qualified in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke. It was her first time to make the team. Her 10th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke was her highest finish so far.
Kimmy Phillips was selected to the team in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Kimmy has now been named to the TISCA 4A All State team 8 times in her high school career. She was also named the Region 2-4A Swimmer of the Year. She finished just out of the medals in 4th place in the 200 Freestyle and 11th in the 100 backstroke at the Texas 4A State Swim Meet.
Each hopes to improve on their performance this year and are already in training for next year.
The Argyle Swim Team had huge success at the Regional Meet held at the Denton Natatorium on Thursday, January 14th.
Anna Reuter won two silver medals and has qualified for the state meet in the 100 meter breast stroke.
Kimmy Phillips won two gold medals and qualified for the state meet in the 100 meter backstroker and the 200 meter freestyle. Kimmy was named UIL Regional Swimmer of the Year for the girls.
Competing for the boys was Jason Egan.
The girls head to Austin for the State Swim Meet on February 26-28th.
Kimmy Phillips, Anna Rauter, Caitlin Brammer, and older sister Nicole Brammer represented Argyle's 2nd year swim team at TISCA (Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association) 4-A North Zone meet on Friday and Saturday. The meet was held at the Frisco ISD Natatorium. There were over 30 teams from across the state participating.
Kimmy Phillips (Soph.) placed third in two events, the 200 freestyle turning in a time of 2:01.74, and the 100 backstroke with a time of 103:88.
Nicole Brammer (Senior) took first in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 102:33.
Anna Rauter (Soph.) placed 7th. in the 100 breast with a time of 115:44. She also received points by placing 15th. in the 100 freestyle. Her time was 101:56.
Caitlin Brammer (Fresh) placed 14th. in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:13:41 and brought home needed points.
All 4 girls teamed up for the 200 Medley Relay placing 6th. with a time of 2:03:61. They followed up with an 8th. place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:51.59.
District meets begin in January.

Argyle senior Kimmy Phillips also will compete in two events at state after winning the regional title in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Phillips was fourth in the state last year in the 200, and will again be among the medal favorites. In the 500, Phillips was more than a minute faster than anyone else inher region.
Argyle’s Anna Reuter earned a state berth as a call-up in the girls 100 breaststroke. She finished second at regionals behind Aledo’s Kira Schlosberg.
