Decatur made a play for their spot to represent 8-3A in the playoffs last night. In a game filled with hits Decatur topped Argyle 9-6. The same story in most of the losses, errors were the nemesis. Rodgers pitched the entire game giving up 15 hits and walking 3 while striking out 5 batters. Emily allowed only 6 earned runs of the nine that scored. While the Lady Eagles banged out 12 hits in the loss and scored 6 earned runs. Extra base hits in the game by Armstrong, Leamon, Speer, O'Brien and Petrick were not enough to keep the Eagles from Decatur from winning. Taylor Petrick led the offense with three hits, two runs scored and one batted in. Speer had two hits and knocked in two runs and scored another. Brittany O'Brien returning from a strained knee had two hits and scored a run. Laura Carr and Katie McKinney each had a hit and scored a run. Kayla Massey playing in her last home varsity game as an Argyle Eagle had a hit to continue her superb year.
As the seniors were introduced in their final home game the fans cheered. The fans came out last night and showed their support as the stands overfilled down the foul lines. Chandler Hamilton (playing left field), Laura Carr (playing second base), Kristen Armstrong (centerfield) and Kayla Massey 9right field) were honored as seniors as they took the field. They will be missed by all not only for their successes in the field and at bat, but for their leadership and great attitudes and sense of humor. Chandler Hamilton said it best on Sunday at Babe's Cafe, "but ,that's not what it's all about. " (inside hokey pokey joke) The underclass players need to learn from these leaders. Softball is a game to enjoy and work hard at in order to succeed. Keep your heads held high as you finish your time at Argyle High School. There is a brand new world waiting for each of you after high school. Best of luck in your endeavors and make the best of your opportunities given.
The Eagles have one district game to play against Whitesboroon Friday. This is a must win for Argyle. The Lady Eagles will be rooting for Bowie to beat Decatur to secure a one game playoff game to decide the third place team for district 8-3A.

Chandler Hamilton Ready to Rip
The Lady Eagles were victorious against the Sissies from Bridgeport on Saturday. Emily Rodgers struckout nine batters in the victory. She held the Sissies to six hits in seven innings of work. The offense was led by Argyle's leading hitter, Taylor Petrick. She had three hits in four at bats. Taylor opened the game with a homerun over the left centerfield fence in the first inning. Taylor added a double, scored two runs and batted in a run. Chandler Hamilton added a run batted in with a double in three at bats. Singles by Kristen, Erin, Jennifer and Kayla rounded out the offense. Additional runs were scored by Leamon and Massey. Runs batted in by Taylor, Chandler, Jennifer and Katie completed the scoring for the Lady Eagles. Emma Forrer made her first start for the Varsity team. The defense was led by Laura Carr playing second base. Her glove and arm aided in the Rodgers victory.
The Lady Eagles led the Bridgeport Sissies by a score of 4-1 as the game entered the bottom of the sixth inning. Consecutive hits by the Sissies including a double and a triple narrowed the Argyle lead to 4-2. With two runners on base and leading by two Emily faced the challenge. Emily stated, "I missed my spots with my pitches to the early batters and lost my concentration". She struck out the side to end the scoring threat and preserving the season for the Lady Eagles. The game Friday against Decatur is Senior Night at the park. The Lady Eagles are in third place by 1/2 game with a record of 8-4. There are two games remaining for Argyle with only one home game, Tuesday against Decatur (7-4).
