Eagles beat Iowa Park

article in the Denton Record Chronicle

This game WAS huge

Argyle vs. Celina for all the marbles.

Eagles dominate 29-14 in a game that was not as close as the score would indicate.

The Eagles (10-0), ranked #1 in the Dallas News area poll and #5 in the state AP poll  feature one of the most brutal defenses in Texas. The defense is anchored by David Johnson, a beast of a defensive lineman that has already committed to play for TCU next year. Johnson has 20 tackles for a loss this season. Other senior defensive standouts include Blake Dunham, Murphy Ellis, Jake Meeks and Jake Sizelove who leads the team in tackles.

The offense is being led by sophomore quarterback Austin Aune, who early in the season overcame the lingering effects of an illness to take the reins of a potent Argyle  offense. Aune completes over 61% of his passes with an excellent  touchdown to interception ratio of 12/2. Senior wideout Lance Sutton is Aune's most frequent target and ranks third in the area in catches with 35 receptions for 569 yards. Senior Scotty Seiber has battled back from injury and has re-assumed his role as feature back with help from Nicholas Chrestopolous and Kevin Ryon. Seiber averages a whopping 7.6 yards per carry and has 435 yards for the season after missing three games with a knee injury.

Check back for a game recap and a new pre-game feature for the playoffs.
