Lady Eagles Sweep District


ARGYLE SEALS PERFECT
10-0 DISTRICT SEASON WITH VICTORY AGAINST AUBREY

Argyle Lady Eagles completed their district season with a decisive sweep against Aubrey 25-4, 25-13, 25-10.  With the win, Argyle is the second team in school history to have a “perfect sweep” district season by winning all district games in 3 straight sets.  In their final district game, all the Lady Eagles saw action and contributed.  Head Coach Clark Oberle commented, “Kaitlin Kammerer set the tone for the match by starting out the first set with 20 consecutive serves.  We played pretty clean the rest of the match and finished 10-0.” 

Sophomore Setter Blair O’Brien posted 18 assists, 2 kills and 1 dig.  Junior Setter Erin Hennesy shared the setting position and added 6 assists.

Several Lady Eagles contributed to the offensive effort.  Rachel Wilkes posted 8 kills, 2 blocks, 5 digs and 2 aces.  Sawyer Camillo added 5 kills, 5 blocks and 2 digs.  Jennifer Speer posted 4 kills, 3 digs and 1 ace.  Sarah Irons had 4 kills.  Kaitlin Kammerer had 2 kills and 2 aces.  Jordan Teel completed the effort with 2 kills, 1 dig and 1 ace.

The defense was led by Libero Samantha James who posted 6 digs and 2 assists.   Brooke O’Brien added 3 digs.  Meagan Barnett had 2 digs. 

With district play behind them, the Argyle Lady Eagles will now set their sights on the playoffs.  Argyle will receive a bye in the first round playoffs and return to action for the area championships.  The area championships will be determined Tuesday evening.   Argyle is 32-5 overall and ranked 11th in the state for 3A by the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association Poll.

ARGYLE LADY EAGLES WIN AREA CHAMPIONSHIP IN SWEEP!

 

Argyle traveled to Little Elm for the second round of playoffs to face the Princeton Lady Panthers for the Region 2-3A Area Championship.  Argyle swept the Princeton Lady Panthers in 3 straight sets 25-15, 25-22, and 28-26 to earn their way into the Regional Quarterfinal playoff.  Head Coach Clark Oberle commented, “We fought hard and made plays when we needed to.  We didn’t get down when we made mistakes.”  

Sophomore Setter Blair O’Brien had another stand-out match posting 44 assists, 3 kills, 1 block and 3 digs.   The Lady Eagle offense had a strong showing.  Rachel Wilkes posted 13 kills and 9 digs.  Jennifer Speer added 12 kills, 2 blocks, 7 digs and 1 assist.   Kaitlin Kammerer, Sawyer Camillo and Sarah Irons each posted 8 kills.  Kammerer also had 1 block, 1 dig, 1 ace and 1 assist.  Camillo added 3 blocks and 2 digs.   Irons added 1 block, 1 dig and 2 assists.

The Lady Eagle defense was led by Senior Brooke O’Brien who had 7 digs.  Jessie Johnson added 4 digs and Samantha James had 1 dig.

Argyle is now 34-5 overall.  The Lady Eagles will return to action on Tuesday evening in Little Elm when the face off for the Regional Quarterfinal playoff.

LADY EAGLES' STELLAR SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO LOVEJOY


It wasn’t how
the Argyle Lady Eagles wanted the story to end, but their season leading to the Regional Quarterfinal playoffs was one to be proud.   Argyle came into the playoff match ranked 8th in the Texas Girls Coaches Association 3A poll with an overall 34-5 season record and a dominating undefeated “sweep” district season.  Despite their undeniable talent and success, Lovejoy proved too much for Argyle.  The Lady Eagles lost to the #1 ranked, 2-time State Champions Lucas Lovejoy in 3 straight sets 17-25, 22-25, and 11-25.  Head Coach Clark Oberle said. “We had a great season and gave Lovejoy a run but came out on the short end.  I am proud of our season and how we played and competed to the very end”. 

The Lady Eagles were led on offense by Sarah Irons who had an outstanding night posting 7 kills.  Rachel Wilkes added 8 kills, 2 aces, 1 block and 3 digs.  Sawyer Camillo had 6 kills and 1 block.  Senior Jennifer Speer posted 4 kills.  Kaitlin Kammerer added 1 kill and 1 dig.  Jordan Teel completed the offensive effort with 1 kill.  Sophomore Setter Blair O’Brien kept the offense running with 23 assists and 3 digs. 

Argyle’s defense was lead by Senior Jennifer Speer who posted 9 digs.  Brooke O’Brien added 5 digs.  Samantha James and Jessie Johnson each posted 2 digs to complete Argyle’s valiant effort against Lovejoy’s offense.

Argyle will feel the loss of 5 seniors whose contributions were key to the Lady Eagles success.   Four year letterman Jennifer Speer, Brooke O’Brien, Samantha James, Jordan Teel and Kerry Wade will be missed.

Argyle Lady Eagles 2010 Accomplishments: 

Season Record 34-6.

2010 District Champions (Undefeated 10-0 “Sweep” Season). 

2010 Area Champions.  

Coach Oberle celebrated his 300th Career Win.

Clark Oberle Gets 300th Career With Sweep Of Aubrey!!

The Lady Eagles faced the Defending 3A State Volleyball Champs the Lovejoy Leopards last night in Celina. The Lady Eagles gave the Leopards a run but fell short of a victory. The Lady Eagles finish the season as the District 9-3A Champs. Seniors Rachel Wilks, Sawyler Camillo, Sarah Irons and Jessie Johnson lead the team to a 40-5 season. Congrats to the Lady Eagles on your amazing season. We wish all of the Seniors good luck in the future in whatever direction you go.
