Eagles Shine at EMS Tournament in Saginaw

The Argyle wrestling team had another great tournament against some very good 4a and 5a teams from around the area.  The Eagles took 3rd place behind Lake Highlands and Saginaw in the team standings.  Cutler McMartin 119lb and Clark Lanning 130lb each took 4th in the consolation rounds in what proved to be a very physical tournament.  Sam Davidson took third in the 135lb weight class by pinning his opponent in the 2nd period.  In the championship round Ben Hammer 152lb, Nick Chrestopoulos 160lb, James Forrest 189lb, and Dylan Taylor 215lb all pinned their opponents to win their respective divisions.  Ben Hammer was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler for the upper weight categories.

Hammer out-classed the wrestler from Saginaw by pinning him with a wrenching head lock.  Chrestopoulos ended his match when he put the Birdville wrestler into a suffocating figure 4.  Forrest pinned the wrestler from Lake Highlands 5 different times during the match but the referee was repeatedly out of position and couldn’t assess the position of the shoulder blades.

Prior to the championship finals the four Eagle wrestlers made a pact to each pin their opponents which left Dylan Taylor as the last one to seal the deal.  Dylan left little doubt about the outcome by suplaying the LD Bell wrestler and pinning him in 25 seconds.  The Eagle wrestling team is looking very strong this year.  When they wrestle at home come and see why wrestling is considered the tough man sport.
