Argyle Athletics Booster Club, Argyle H.S. TX

Lacy Blake and Emma Welsh won the Class 3A Region II girls doubles title and qualified for the UIL state tennis tournament on May 13-14 in Austin.

The pair was not seeded entering the regional but won four matches in straight sets, and upset the top-seeded team from Van Alstyne in the title match. The girls beat the top three seeds in claiming the title.
 

Will Stein and Maddie Schorelemmer both return to the state tournament after finishing second in the regional singles tournaments.Stein, the defending 3A boys singles state champion, was the top seed and cruised into the final before being upset by Matt Ford of Lovejoy, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6. Stein defeated Daniel Kil of Alvarado in a playback match to qualify for the state tournament.

Schorelemmer, upset Farmersville’s Becky Forbus in three sets to in the semifinals to reach the championship match, where she fell to Katya Salas of Byron Nelson, 6-4, 6-1.
