The Argyle Eagles claimed their 6th consecutive district title last Friday with their 11-4 win over Celina at Eagles Diamond. After allowing a 2 run HR in the top of the 1st, junior Drew Gooch dialed it up a knotch and pitched 5 shutout innings before retiring to the bench for the 7th.
Landon Rogers' drove the ball deep all game narrowly missing a HR to deep center field while delivering a double, a single, and 4 RBI for the Eagles. Parker Mushinksi drilled a fastball on a rope over the left field fence for a 3 run HR.
Senior Davis Coghlan made the defensive play of the game climbing the ladder to snag a line drive which was headed for extra bases denying Celina some much-needed momentum in the 5th inning. Drew Gooch did the rest retiring the side and the Bobcats never threatened again.
The Eagles now await the winner of the Wilmer Hutchins vs. Bonham series and will play a couple of warm up games before beginning their playoff march next week. Check back for details and broadcast times.
